BASEBALL rules!

Pleasant Grove hosted their annual "opening ceremony" for the Mustang/Pinto baseball league today. Connor is a member of the Pirates this year, and has been waiting patiently (not!) all month to get his uniform. He not only got his uniform today, but my September 11th boy was assigned number 11! Pretty lucky, don't you agree? However, what happened at his game this evening had a lot more to do with skill. He did an awesome job of pitching and playing third base, but the highlight of the game was Connor's GRAND SLAM. He was awarded the game ball. Pretty good for his first game!

I knew there was a reason this kid loved baseball! I was really un-cool and made him pose for a couple pictures, but I was just being a Mom. I guess I should say good bye to my life as I know it for at least the next three months, baseball is going to rule in more ways than one!

Go Go Power Rangers

My boys have a serious power ranger fetish that starts at about age 2 and ends sometime around age 5 or 6, but for those few years, every picture I seem to take features them in some kind of power ranger pose. They ALL do it, Kyle is incapable of having his picture taken right now without posing like he's karate chopping. Now, of course Max and Connor deny ever acting this way, but I have the proof right here, just look at the latest of Kyle and then the one of Connor when he was about the same age...gotcha!

Max's New Pet

Ok, here's a good one. The other day Max came in the front door and started lugging this huge rock up the stairs. I looked at him and the following conversation followed:

Mel "what are you doing?"

Max: "this is STEVE!" (with a look that said - you are clueless, mom)

Mel: "who's Steve?"

Max: "My pet rock, I've had him for over 2 weeks!"

Mel: "oh, sorry, I guess I should have known."

In typical Kyle fashion, following his older brother's lead, Kyle now has two small pet rocks, named Bob and Carl. (why these names? I have no idea...) He told me Steve is the "big daddy rock" and Bob and Carl are the babies. (I guess they're just chips off the old rock, :-)

Last night when I took this picture of him, Max told me in a kind of disgusted voice that Katelyn(his best friend) was supposed to take him (the rock) this week but she didn't. Apparently I wasn't aware that they had joint custody of this pet.

And you thought your kids had wild imaginations...

Pre-School Primping

Every morning when I get Megan ready for the Head Start Bus, we do the usual hair, face, teeth, etc. However, this child insists on having eye shadow, blush, and lip gloss before she'll even think of walking out the door. I indulge her with a little light pink or pale cream stuff and it seems to make her happy, whatever works, right??? I just wonder how much bathroom time she'll require when she's a teenager!?

Let the blogging begin...

Computer

Hello all,
I've been trying to put together a blog for quite a while now, and never seem to quite get it done. Here goes my attempt at keeping in better touch and letting all of you know what's going on in our crazy, busy life. I often wish I would write down some of the funny things that the kids tell me, and believe me, there are plenty of them! So maybe if I have a little place to do that and an audience to write for, I'll actually write in a "journal" of sorts..... Love you all, Mel

This is The Place

Today I went on Connor's 4th grade field trip to "This is the Place" monument/Heritage State Park. The bus ride with 100 10 year olds was a bit noisy, but we had a fun time! Connor still likes me enough to invite me to come with him when he's in the presence of friends, so I guess I'll cherish every moment of that! They had some really cool things for the kids to do and try out to see what life was like for the pioneer children. We visited a cabinet maker's shop, an 1865 school house and a one room cabin where a family with 10 kids lived....don't think he'll complain about his minimal chores for a week at least!
(P.S. I only had the cell phone camera with me, so these pictures aren't too great.)
