A Yankee Year

Baseball season is in full swing at our house, and both Connor and Max are playing this year. Connor is playing in the "Major" league and Max is in the "B Minors". The main difference (besides age of course) in the two leagues are the following:
1. Connor had to try out and be "drafted" to his team
2. Max's league has the coaches pitch every other inning.
3. Max's leauge can't "steal" bases.
4. Connor's team plays games on Tuesdays and Thursdays
5. Max's team plays games on Mondays and Wednesdays

So, we are spending four evenings a week at the Kawanis Baseball Field.
They both ended up (by coincidence) on the "Yankees" and have identical uniforms (Connor is #23 and Max is #7), as you can see from the pictures.

Max is having fun and doing well for his first year playing organized baseball. He plays first and third base and is has had a few hits, including a double in the last game.

Connor is continuing to be very competitive and has had a few chances to pitch, which is always nerve racking for me to watch, but he's done well. When he's not pitching, he's been playing third base as well. He continues to be the "heavy hitter" but we're still waiting for his first home run of the season. I'm sure it's coming soon!

THE BLUR (below) is Connor rounding first base....It's been hard to get good pictures through the fence this year!

Connor's team on picture day "monkeying around" for the camera: Can you pick Connor out from all the blue capped goofy looking boys? Right in the middle of things as usual.

BIG News in a Small Town

For the second time in a few short months, our kids made the paper!
Gotta love Rock Springs and their never ending search for news worthy events!
Be sure to click on the image to read the article. Max and Devin are in the back row on the right hand side.

Field Trip Fun

Megan's kindergarten class visited the Desert View Animal Hospital last week, and I had the pleasure of accompanying them. It's the first time I've been able to attend a school activity in Rock Springs, and I was happy to have a chance to get to know Megan's teacher and classmates better.

We saw lots of dogs and cats, and Megan was in awe of them all. We recently got our own pet (post to follow soon!) so Meg is getting lots of training at home with her new cat.

Look at the expression on her face when she saw this big dog!

As you can see, she lost another tooth a couple weeks ago and is still a cutie! Fun Day!

We Are The Champions

Max and Devin had great success on Thursday at their scout troop's pinewood derby. Both boys won first place for their dens, and took first and second for the entire troop. They worked hard on the cars with their Dads, and it was hard to tell who was more excited, Dave and Pat, or Max and Devin.

The final heat was very close, including a tie, and the ultimate decision by the judges was Max's car was just a teeny bit faster. Both boys will compete at the district competition this summer.

Megan and Brooklyn's Brave Adventure!

Saturday we had the big excursion to the mall to get Megan and Brooklyn's ears pierced. They have been asking for several weeks and Heather and I finally agreed to indulge them.

Brooklyn, unfortunately, cut her own hair into a Billy Ray Cyrus Mullet the night before during her sleep over at my house. So, she also conned her Mom into buying her one of those curly two toned hair pieces that you clip onto the back of your hair. She calls it her "Hannah Montana" hair.

Anyway, the girls were all for it when they picked out their beautiful pair of shiny studs, Brooklyn picked sapphires and Megan diamonds. Brooklyn got to go first. Her cute little face went from curious, to nervous, to "OUCH" to big crocodile tears. Even the lollipop given by the lady doing the piercing didn't help too much to detract her from the pain of the second hole, but she managed to get through it, and ten minutes later, she was proudly posing once again.
Megan also didn't make it through the ordeal without crying some big tears of her own, the picture of her looking at them in the mirror at the back of the store is my most favorite!
